Keyboard shortcuts can increase your productivity when you aren’t trying to find what you’re looking for in a haystack of menus. The following is a list of some really useful keyboard shortcuts that we find quite useful:

Sleep – ⌥⌘ + eject

Force quit menu – ⌥⌘ + escape

Close window – ⌘W

Quit application – ⌘Q

Application switcher – ⌘⇥

Force shutdown (without timed warning) – ⌃⌥⌘ + eject

Move selected file to the trash – ⌘⌫

Forward delete text ( a la Windows delete key) – ⌃D

Minimize all open windows – ⌥⌘M

Screen cap entire screen – ⇧⌘3

Screen cap of selected area – ⇧⌘4

Screen cap of single window – ⇧⌘4 + space

Alternatively, you can also create your own custom shortcuts by going to the Apple icon > System Preferences, and click Keyboard. Once there, click on Keyboard Shortcuts, and then click Add (+). The whole guide can be found on Apple’s KB site.

We will be adding more to this list as we go, and feel free to let us know of any shortcuts you guys use regularly in the comments!
